According to the report from South Korea's Yonhap news agency, in July, shipping container costs from South Korea to the United States and Europe have risen for the third month in a row.
The South Korea Customs Service data revealed a significant 28.1% increase in the average shipping cost of a 40-foot container from South Korea to the US east coast compared to the previous month. The cost of shipping to Europe saw an even steeper rise, with a 39.2% increase over the same period.
Shipping costs between South Korea and the US west coast also continued to climb, marking a fourth consecutive month of increases. The average cost for this route rose by 20% month on month.
In contrast, shipping costs from the US to South Korea saw a decrease in July. The average cost of transporting containers from the US west coast to South Korea dropped by 10.7%, while costs from the east coast fell by 3.5% month on month.
