PT Lautan Baja Indonesia, a new hot-rolled coil producer wholly owned by PT Lautan Steel Indonesia, started launching a hot strip mill, producing hot rolled coil (HRC), with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons in Banten, West Java, in mid-August.

It was understood that the company also expected to invest IDR 7 trillion to install a 75-ton electric arc furnace (EAF) and a 90-ton ladle refining furnace, and planned to conduct upstream and downstream production in a 100-hectare plant area.

Except for rolling HRC to supply the domestic market, the company will also produce cold-rolled and coated steel products, with an expected final rated output of 3 million tons of finished flat products per year.
