Eurofer warns of urgent need for "Clean Industrial Deal" to save European steel sector
The European Steel Association (Eurofer) has issued a serious warning about the future of Europe's steel industry, calling for the immediate inclusion of a "Clean Industrial Deal" in steel policy.
A report by former Italian Prime Minister and European Central Bank President Mario Draghi, released on September 9 by the European Commission, highlighted key obstacles to decarbonizing high-energy industries like steel. Issues such as high energy costs, insufficient financial support for green technology, and trade imbalances are putting the EU at a disadvantage against the US and China.
Eurofer fully supports Draghi's recommendations, urging immediate action to safeguard the industry's competitiveness and sustainability.
