Petrobras, a state-owned Brazilian multinational corporation in the petroleum industry, has signed a crucial contract to supply natural gas to CSN’s steel plant in Rio de Janeiro. Petrobras will serve as the primary supplier, supporting both companies’ efforts toward decarbonization. Petrobras and CSN aim to optimize natural gas usage across various processes, aligning with their shared energy transition goals.

In the second quarter, Petrobras secured several natural gas contracts in the free consumer category, totaling 940 thousand cubic meters per day. Maurício Tolmasquim, Petrobras’s Energy Transition Director, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in fostering a sustainable and competitive energy market in Brazil.
