Steel imports from China should be restricted to protect Turkey's steel market: TCUD
The Turkish Steel Producers Association (TCUD) said that Turkey's steel imports in the first seven months of this year declined due to a decrease in local consumption and the base effect of the high import rate recorded in 2023.
TCUD said that steel imports from China continued to grow exponentially, and Turkey should implement restrictions on China's imports as soon as possible to avoid becoming an open market. Such restrictions will also help improve the situation of the steel industry and reduce the foreign trade deficit.
At the same time, from the perspective of individual countries, Turkey's steel imports from Egypt and Indonesia have increased excessively.
