Russia's Ozernoye plant starts zinc concentrate production after delays due to fire & US sanctions
Russia’s new Ozernoye plant, located near the country’s largest zinc mine, officially launched zinc concentrate production after being delayed due to a fire accident in 2023 and US sanctions.
The unique geographical location ensures the Ozernoye plant has a sufficient and convenient supply of raw materials and a solid foundation for future market expansion.
After reaching full capacity in 2025, the plant aims to process up to 6 million tons of zinc ore per year and the annual production of zinc concentrate with 53% zinc content will rise to 600,000 tons.
Regarding concentrate output, the plant will rank fifth in the world, accounting for 4.5% of global concentrate production.
