Canada Nickel secures potential loan from Export Development Canada for Crawford project
Canada Nickel announced that Export Development Canada is considering a loan of up to US$500 million for its Crawford project in Ontario. Canada has identified minerals like nickel, lithium, and copper as critical for technological advancements and the energy transition.
The government has also paid a lot of attention to critical metal projects, asking some Chinese investors to divest due to national security concerns. Canada Nickel is working to secure additional funding for mine construction by mid-2025. The company aims to raise US$1 billion for a nickel-processing plant.
