According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s wire rod exports amounted to around 572,000 tons in the first seven months of this year, significantly rising by nearly 98% compared to the same period a year ago. The export value was also up by 76% year on year to roughly US$353 million.
Among them, Romania was the main export destination with roughly 175,000 tons, a year-on-year surge of 487%. Bulgaria followed with around 48,200 tons, soaring by more than 1,800% year on year. Australia ranked third with 38,000 tons, up by 74% year on year.
In July alone, Turkey exported around 44,000 tons of wire rods, falling by 55% from the preceding month and by 13% from the same month a year earlier. The export value was down by 55% month on month and by 17% year on year to US$27 million.
