Lech-Stahlwerke (LSW), a German special steel producer, issued the final acceptance certificate (FAC) to Primetals Technologies for an advanced scrap torch-cutting machine at its Meitingen plant. This innovative technology represents a significant step forward in scrap cutting, offering reduced noise levels and zero dust emissions.

As the metals industry embraces a greener future, the use of scrap in production is set to rise, with projections from the World Steel Association estimating scrap usage to reach 1,000 million tons annually soon. By adopting in-house scrap cutting, LSW streamlines its scrap management and improves furnace charging precision, while enhancing occupational safety through remote-controlled operations and video surveillance.
